A member asked:

Is there any causes of breast lumps besides cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cysts: As a women ages the normal volume of breast tissue is reduced andreplaced by fat interspersed between the breast causing lumpiness. Also the effect of hormones on the duct system is usually in the terminal duct near the nipple where overgrowth of cells partially blocks flow of normal fluid to cause cysts in the duct system. In the younger breast fibroadenomas appear as discreet lumps.
