A member asked:

In what way can cjd be transmitted from person to person?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cannibalism: "kuru" was transmitted in this way and became an epidemic among the fore people of new guinea. It has also been transmitted on surgical instruments, by organ transplant, and more recently probably by blood transfusion. Tissue is infectious so we do not like to handle it in the lab. A person with cjd poses no danger to caregivers.
