Constipation: Increase fiber in the baby's diet. In this age group, babyfood prunes, prune juice and/or pear juice would all be helpful. Short-term relief of discomfort passing hard stools can be had with glycerin suppositories (pedialax) while waiting for the increased fiber to speed up colonic filling and subsequent quicker emptying which results in moister, softer stools.

More Fiber: More dietary fiber such as prunes or vegies. Also consider if there is anything being eaten that binds the baby. For example , milk/dairy is common cause of constipation in children.
