Not instant.: If you had water in your ear you may have an external ear infection. Antibiotic drops are used to treat that. However, a sore throat at the same time suggests an upper respiratory infection with middle ear infection or strep throat as possibilities. You would need a non emergent doctor visit (next 1-2 days) to find out if you need antibiotics for ear infection or strep throat.
