It could: Mucinex (guaifenesin) has several formulations but breaking up the mucous by the guainefesin ingredient is helpful. The addition of a decongestant in some Mucinex (guaifenesin) formulations is useful, if you do not have high blood pressure, heart disease or hyperthyroidism.
