A member asked:

I have ibs and dysmenorrhea which tend to make each other worse. can i take pepto and then strong aleve (naproxen) a couple hours later to eliminate both pains?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: If the aleve (naproxen) does not bother your stomach and you don't have any history of stomach ulcers… you don't have to take pepto-bismol prior. If the pepto-bismol does alleviate any symptoms of dyspepsia from anti-inflammatories… by all means take it. Ibs is more of a functional problem with the gut then a structural problem that may be bothered by anti-inflammatories. Good luck.
