Perthes in children: x-rays of hips are required to make the diagnosis of Perthes. Some patients who come to the clinic shortly after the onset of symptoms, x-rays may be normal if not enough time has passed for x-ray changes to occur. If patient is still suspected of having Perthes disease, MRI is helpful to make the diagnosis.
