I used to take geodon (ziprasidone) for sleep i was on geodon (ziprasidone) for a year with no problems nurse practioner said it was dangerous for me is this true based on my med?

Yes.: Geodon (ziprasidone) is an antipsychotic medications and not indicated for sleep although some patients with psychotic disorders who also have sleep disturbances , sleep well on this medication. The danger are the side-effects if taken for a long time are the tardive dyskinesia, or abnormal movements of the tongue and mouth, abnormal movements of the body, immediate side-effects simulating parkinson's disease.

See below: If you are having primary insomnia (not due to a medical or psychological cause), Geodon (ziprasidone) is not a good medicine for insomnia. Rather good sleep hygiene ; understanding your insomnia is key. Try to regularize your sleep times. Avoid caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, bright lights, ; electronics prior to bedtime. If you continue to have trouble sleeping, a sleep dr. Can be of help. Hope that helps!
