Fluid Shifts: When someone is deprived of proper nutrition for a period of time, they have changes in blood salts and proteins. Salts and protein albumen are the molecules that control movement of water in and out of the cells and blood vessels. When the person starts to eat normally again it increase salts and protein causeing shifts of water from blood to tissue. Aka refeeding syndrome needs close monitoring.
