No: These medications represent 2 different mechanisms of anti-bacterial activity. I do not think most physicians would order both of them at the same time. One might use one and if there was a poor response, then a second antibiotic with a different mechanism of action might be considered. The most important question is whether or not a bacterial infection has been documented.
