What does the rubella virus attack?

Nothing really: The rubella virus doesn't really attack anything. It focuses only on making more of itself. It starts in the nose usually and then go to the blood. The symptoms of rubella are from our body attacking the virus to get rid of it and in the process effecting cells that are infected. Rubella is a big deal in pregnancy because it can cross the placenta and get into the baby.

Like all viruses,: it enters the body's cells, and hijacks the cell's replication apparatus to make more copies of itself. In the process the cell is damaged destroyed, and the virus reproduces.
