Lumbar spasm: Lumbar spasm is when the muscles supporting your spinal cord freeze up or "spasm." it is diagnosed clinically which means based on symptoms with no imaging studies needed. Lumbar spasm can be very painful and make it difficult to walk. It may takes 1-5 days to resolve and usually responds best to heat, massage and acetaminophen.
