Tincture of time +: Most cases of pleurisy are viral caused, so that time--usually under three weeks--will heal. Ice application alternating with heat may help. Analgesics such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxyn (aspirin related medication) will bring relief. If very severe--codeine. But if caused by infection, blood clot to the lung, traumatic bleeding, or immune reaction, must DX and rx specifically.
