Sleepers: The material that accumulates in the nasal cornea of the eyes overnight is a combination of dried tears, mucous, oil, and airborne dirt and debris. Some people may get this, or a mucoid material during the day, especially in cases of eye allergy or dry eye. Using artificial tears (Systane, refresh) and possibly allergy drops (zaditor, alaway) can help, as can cleaning the eyelids and lashes daily.
