Get tested: Hi. 4 ways to test for diabetes: fasting glucose, random glucose (not fasting), A1c, and oral glucose tolerance test; each test has its own diagnostic criteria. Most doctors start with a fasting AM glucose because it's cheap & easy. Other testing depends on your symptoms and what your doctor considers as possible explanations. Talk with your doctor.
