Depends: Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Earlier abortion (first trimester) is less painful than later abortion. If you have had vaginal deliveries it probably will hurt less. If you use narcotics or other drugs, it will probably hurt more. Talk to your doc. Anesthesia is probably available if you're in new york.
