Yes, but they can be: Helpful life long issues. If the attempt helps the person to change lifestyle, get help, avoid future attempts then the results can be positive. Hope this helps.

It is possible: When you say life long issues do you mean will the failed attempt cause change? Change can be either positive or negative. Make it a positive one by learning why the attempt was made and adjust your thoughts and behaviors to improve your life. Work with a therapist to assist you. If you are still having thoughts of harming yourself, please contact your local mental health association or 911.
