Sometimes: Medical records can be accessed by another medical provider who is involved in your care if requested (especially if the doctor has privileges at the hospital where you visited). Each hospital has a different policy regarding records release. Typically your authorization in the form of a signature is required for the release of records. Courts are also able to subpoena medical records.
