Symptoms: Apple allergy can manifest as mouth itching, tongue or lip swelling, hives, vomiting or even difficulty breathing. Usually symptoms will occur in less than an hour or 2. An allergist can skin test with fresh or commercial preparation of apple extract to help confirm or rule out allergy. Sometimes a food challenge is done to be sure.
