Yes: There are a few conditions in which we use "prophylactic antibiotics" to prevent infection. This is typically in high risk patients like those with hiv, liver cirrhosis, and occasionally in people with frequent urinary tract infections. As a general rule we prefer to avoid chronic antibiotics in healthy patients as it may contribute to resistance.
