A member asked:

What are reasons why, if possible, can a piece of glass in ones foot never lead to any infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The body is able sometimes to "wall off" a foreign substance, such as glass, and it can then stay inside for many years without causing problems. However, without warning an infection can arise even many years or decades after. If you have a piece of glass in your foot its a good idea to have it removed.
