Why is statistics high on hiv/aids amongst black people? any insights?

Many theories: HIV infection is high in African Americans (AA) likely for many reasons. Some suggest that it is lack of knowledge about HIV/poor access to medical care and HIV testing. Others suggest that the stigma of having HIV and issues of homophobia within the AA community have kept people 'in the closet' or 'on the down low' and not willing to get tested or disclose to friends/family that they are HIV+.
