Artificial tears: need to be used frequently to have an effect. At least 4 times a day, maybe more. Also, there are thicker agents available to lubricate the eye longer. Sometimes, artificial tears alone are just not enough, and you need ointments, punctal plugs, and certain medicated drops to help. Talk to your eye doctor and they will recommend the appropriate treatment. Good luck.
