A member asked:

Can any doc explain why can't i feel the nicotine buzz?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mostly there isn't 1: Most people don't feel an acute 'buzz' or high when smoking a cigarette. This may occur early on when people are nicotine-naive, but rarely continues. Sometimes if someone has quit for a while, and has a cigarette after a period of abstinence, they will feel lightheaded or buzzed, but this is unusual. The psychoactive effects of nicotine are more subtle, with muscle relaxation and concentration.
