A member asked:

I have facial nerve problem and my eye is in pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bell's palsy?: I recommend you make an appointment asap with an ophthalmologist to have an assessment of your problem. It sounds like your vii nerve is affected and you are unable to completely close your eye, which subsequently dries (lagophthalmos) and cause pain due to corneal desiccation (keratitis). Intensive lubrication with artificial tear ointment is most effective. Sometimes a tarsorrhaphy is necessary.
