Botox therapy: The optimal therapy for limb dystonia is injection therapy with botulinum toxin. With selective targeting of muscles involved in the abnormal movement, overactive muscle activity can be calmed down to try to achieve normal movement. Several sessions, typically spaced out every 3 months may be needed to get the exact dose right.

Uncertainty: Dystonia may be defined as "a syndrome of sustained muscle contractions, frequently causing twisting and repetitive movement, or abnormal postures." (cardoza). The primary management approach for dystonia is pharmacologic, using systemic medications and botox. Unfortunately, most cases of focal dystonia develop reoccurrence even with treatment.
