A member asked:

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and i've gained 10 lbs in 4 weeks with a total weight gain of 20lbs is that ok should i be worried of gest diabetes husband is type 1?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Do the 28 week GTT: As a general principle, cutting carbohydrates and increasing protein intake, including protein shakes, will allow more important proteins to get to your developing baby. Carbohydrates (breads, rice, pasta, sweets) do nothing for you or your baby, besides gain weight. Increasing your calcium intake will provide the calcium necessary for fetal bone growth. Lastly, do the 28 week diabetes screen.
