Meningitis: The risk of contacting meningitis as an adult is minimal. In a third world country be much more concerned with malaria, and other mosquito born diseases. For third world countries check with an infectious disease specialist for vaccination reccomendations.

Bacterial meningitis: This is not common in adults. There is a Meningococcal vaccine which provides protection against two of the three more common types.
