Very tender lump/cyst/bruise thing about an inch from bottom of 11th rib, right side. size of a dime, sometimes hurts on its own (sharp, quick pain w/breathing) ... can't recall injury. cause?

Several possiblities: The tender lump that causes pain can be due to several causes. These would include a cyst, abscess, growth, and others.
It should be evaluated by a physician soon.
In the meanwhile, you can try to apply moist heat and take Ibuprofen as needed.
