It depends: It depends on what type of iron you are taking. There are various formulations (ferrous fumarate, ferrous gluconate, ferrous sulfate). So the "mg" you are taking are not equivalent in the different types of formulations. 65mg is a low dose if you are indeed iron deficient. Recommended doses of ferrous sulfate for anemics are about 325mg three times a day for a month, then less. You can crush them.
