Pad: No, in fact slight buildup ofplaque in the carotid distribution can be seen in young patients too. You have to adhere to diet and exercise. Perhaps cholesterol pills to stabilize and reduce cv risk. Aggressive risk factors modification especially no smoking. The ultrasound gives a range of narrowing from 0-50% 50-70% and above 70% . Your 40% is mild.
