Possible, rare: Apparently it is possible to contract salmonella if contaminated material was splashed into the eyes. Salmonella does not typically cause an eye infection. However, ocular complications of salmonella infection in the body can include dry eye and an increased risk for Reactive Arthritis (iritis, joint pain, painful urination).
