A member asked:

Could i have gotten mono from someone who had mono years ago as a child?

Not likely at all: The eb virus is apparently acquired by most of the population and the eb virus test only indicates disease if the titre (concentration) goes up. It appears that the virus is "waiting in the wings" for the body to show its lack of biochemical strength. Hence, a stress event may kick it off like being "kicked off a (biochemical) cliff.
