Yes: Hemophilia gene is loocated on a x chromosome. Women have 2 x chromosomes. Men have one (men have a y chromosome). Therefore women who carry one hemophilia x chromosme and one normal chromosome are fine, and have no bleeding problems, because the normal x chromosome compensates the defective one. Men are not so lucky. The mother passes the gene to sons 50% of the time.
