Incipient decay: In its most early stages, demineralization of the enamel can be reversed using certain creams and pastes. If the decay has broken down the enamel matrix, then dentist intervention is necessary.

Not really: Incipient exceptionally early decay that has not penetrated through the enamel into the dentin can sometimes be halted and re mineralized. If you know you have a cavity, however, you're long past that threshold and will need restorative care. In either case the enemy is procrastination...See your dentist now.
