Dissection: Yes, one of the most common reports is of visiting chiropractor 1-2 days prior to symptoms developing.

Neck cracking: The exact causes of dissection are poorly understood however traumatic events associated with sudden dramatic neck movement have at times been seen with dissection

A 33-year-old member asked:
Is it possible to get vertebral artery dissection from neck cracking?

Possibly: Any jerking motion of the neck can lead to carotid artery or vertebral artery dissection. I've seen them with car accidents and a rare couple of cases with chiropractic manipulation. I can't imagine that slow turning of the neck would lead to vertebral dissection though.
