Whitlow ?HSV: Whitlow, or felon, can be caused by bacteria, usually streptococci or staphylococci and affects the pulp/finger pad of finger. It often requires a small incision and drainage along with a short course of antibiotics. This is differentiated from herpetic whitlow, a viral infection of the finger tip, usually auto-infected or care-taker infection, associated with blisters and not treated with abx.
