Wean off ativan (lorazepam): Ativan (lorazepam) is meant for short term use or occasional rescue use only. This is because people will develop tolerance and dependence on ativan (lorazepam).
For persistent anxiety an long term anxiety controller medication should be used.
Ativan (lorazepam) must be weaned off slowly to minimize withdrawal symptoms.

Ativan tolerance: Let your prescriber know so that you can start to taper off of it. If you aren't on an SSRI & it is for anxiety - that might be a good step as well as psychotherapy.

Depends: This is a complicated question that relies on many variables including dose, how often taken, for how long, whether taking any other meds that can effect Ativan (lorazepam), (lorazepam) Also the individuals size and metabolism are factors. I hope you are not in the process of taking Ativan (lorazepam) more frequently than needed.
