It depends.: Anal warts are common - caused by hpv virus. They are not dangerous but they are contagious. Treatment depends on how many you have. A few can be coagulated or frozen in the office with local anesthesia. If many are present, a trip to the operating room may be needed. A few are often left after a first treatment. So a second procedure is often needed. Eventually all will be gone. Peter wilk, md.
