Joint pain: By definition arthritis means inflammation in the hints. Inflammation is characterized by pain swelling heat and redness. Any of these features are suggestive of arthritis. Arthritis: Arthritis basically means inflammation of a joint. When inflammed, the joint swells up and causes pain. Mobility becomes painful when an inflammed joint is moved. Treatment may include (depending on the type of arthritis) medications, steroid injections, physical therapy etc. Regular mild exercises or swimming are best to avoid joint dysfunction. Good luck
