A member asked:

Are long skinny bowel movements something to be concerned about?

No: No - as long as there is no blood or mucus admixed to the skinny bowel movements. Regardless, as of age 50 it is recommended that everybody should have a screening colonoscopy for polyps in the large bowel that down the road could transform into colon cancer.

Abnormal stools : Any changes in stool shape from the usual should be evaluated as soon as possible especially in your age group. Starting at age 50 it is anyway recommended to have colon cancer screening( routine check up) even in patients with no symptoms. Other symptoms to check is blood in stool, weight loss, worsening constipation. My advise is to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible.
