A member asked:

Is there a chance of having vaginal birth without episiotomy after hemorrhoidectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Episiotomy is when the skin between the vagina and anus is cut to enlarge the birth canal. It is typically only used if it is suspected that the baby will get stuck as it is being born, or in emergency situations during labor. Having a hemorrhoidectomy in the past should not prevent you from having a normal vaginal delivery.
