A member asked:

What are the chances of getting genital herpes from one time exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Genital herpes can cause oral infection and oral herpes can cause genital infections even when no eruptions are present although transmission of the virus is much more likely during breakouts. 20% of all adults are infected with genital herpes and up to 80% of adults are infected with oral herpes and the virus can be transmitted even when there are no symptoms or lesions present.
