Ask your OB: Do not smoke. Little or no alcohol. No meds unless first checked with dr. Take Folic Acid but avoid pills containing vitamin a. Avoid all herbal meds. Beware of "natural" remedies.

Certain medications: The first trimester of pregancy is a critical stage for organ development. You must be cautious when taking medications, whether prescribed or over-the-counter meds. You can quickly google the safety of meds and must be at least a category a or b. Consult your OB when uncertain.
