If you have genital warts does it show up on your pap test?

Not usually: Genital wars are caused by low risk hpv. Although that can cause an abnormal pap, it is uncommon compared to the high risk hpv. When we order a pap and it is abnormal, they only check for the high risk types.

No: Only cancerous cells show up if they are there. There is no such test for the warts which are diagnosed visually.

HPV Hybrid: Most doctors are now screening for hpv (at least the strains that cause cancer from the wart virus) at the pap smear or when the pap is abnormal. They also look for abnormalities in the skin or vaginal tissue they can visualize during the exam.
