It is a possibility: That it will heal by itself. Ligaments are in every joint and their function to create an orthopedic stability. They are relatively elastic and can lengthen under stress and then return to their original shape. Good rest, moist heat, otc anti-inflammatory and passive physical stretching will be helpful. If the condition is not improved in one week, see your health care provider.

May heal itself: Minor damage to a ligament such as a mild sprain will heel in weeks. More severe injuries may talke months and other treatments. See your primary doc . He may send you to an orthopeic surgeon you may need xrays or an mri. Advil (ibuprofen) or alleve may give you some relief. Be careful of side affects.
