What is (or are) a mitochondrial disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Definition of Mito.: Mitochondria are specific organelles within our cells. They are essentially the energy-producing factories of the cells; they produce (among other things) a molecule called ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the energy currency of the body. There are a few mitochondrial diseases; these diseases specifically affect this very important structure within our cells.
