I have a swollen lump under my left ear that i found last june and now is larger and seems to involve more down the front of my neck and pain in ear.

Swollen lump: Lumps on necks are commonly seen. Most of them are benign and resolve spontaneously. However some might need treatment depending on the cause. If they persist for so long they need to be checked. Most likely would be good if you see an ENT specialist as soon as possible.
