Ask directly: Simply ask your doctor directly for the stool test. It may or may not be positive, and you'll need further investigation of your symptoms. Let your doctor take your overall history so that all avenues are covered. There are many other possible causes of ibs, bloating, and flatus -- including food sensitivities.
