Both safe: Silver amalgam fillings have been around over 150 years and no conclusive evidence or study ever to my knowledge on them not being safe. Composite fillings newer and considered safe but have not stood the same test of time. Both have had controversies concerning their safety. I would have either in my mouth without any concern! air, water. Food and just living is not 100% safe.
